2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R

I am quite a sport cars fan, and one of the most anticipated cars right now is the new 2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R. Spectacular performance figures, rumor is 11.7 sec for quarter mile, that's almost in league with Ferrari Enzo! Best of all is price, which is expected to be way less then $100,000.

Nissan Skyline GT-R

2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R Specification:

  • VR-series twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 480 hp @ 6,800 rpm. 430 lb-ft torque @ 3,200–5,200 rpm
  • ATTESA ET-S All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with independent rear-mounted transaxle integrating transmission, differential and AWD transfer case
  • 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with three driver-selectable modes: Normal (for maximum smoothness and efficiency), Snow (for gentler starting and shifting on slippery surfaces), and R mode (for maximum performance with fastest shifts).
  • Dual clutch design changes gears in less than 0.5 second (0.2 second in R mode).

Well said Mike. I think the major problem with American cars is the very free market they helped create. US cars are simply not as pretty, comfortable or fuel efficient as European/Japan cars. The companies are in problems because people are not buying them.

bye bye ford, chrys,gm,you're gettin worse instead of better at competition,I went to buy my wife a ford mustang on xmas day with plenty of inventory but they ere waaay over invoice, trying to make up for lost time,.You had my chance to help you save that dog of a company, the GM was too important to be there even. It's embarassing,we have come so far to get out ass kicked because we don't want to work, sound familiar. Rome was doing the samething when it fell. I can't even talk english to anyone doing manual labor. There is no going back, find a country like switzerland south America, parts, but get the hell out

I Own a 2006 GT350Z. and heard about Nissan, gtr was looking at ford cobra at 45,000.00 The quality is unsurpassed, \Coming close is the new nissan but they have the parts ready to push this Auto to the American public but it must be done in a very quick manner. GM,Ford,Chrys are on their heels. Now is the time to blow all the US carmakers out of the water. This is the conundrum the US car makers are faced with. (1) The carmakers are losing production advantage, they're closing down many plants for 2 months to begin with, which will precipitate a supply problem on less than popular cars and trucks and popular cars and trucks. The US /Fed requiring the auto companies to get rid of excess supply at any price. Financing is getting harder and harder to get, even for people with good credit. This is a very frightening downward spiral.I went to buy a new ford mustang 2009. Now, the prices are the same as 2008 but the car dealership can sell you a 2008 mustang at the much lower price(23,0000) for retail car of 28,700.00 but they won't move on a 2009 mustang brand new 29,000 for a gt ford 2009,eventhough prices have remained the same. I think most Americans will do the same thing I did, take my business elsewhere. I'm not a cold hearted individual,I was trying to be Patriotic American, being a twice wounded Vietnam Veteran trying to do my part for my country, during moments of crisis I believe everything should be done in a cooperative effort using teamwork to help Americans out. Has big business and American pseople lost that ability? Pulling together in a time of CRISIS which I think this is.God Bless America if we can't pull together and as taxpayer help our country help right this ship.So much is at stake I fear what is slowly and incidiously going to happen to America. GOD BLESS AMERICA.Please send this on and repeat it as often as possible, perhaps it isn't too late for God to hear us.

... and your mustang might end up faster in a straight line, granted.. but will never corner like the GTR.. or be at home in any weather like the GTR.. for the money nothing can touch this car. a simple chip brings the GTR past 500hp easily. the corvette z06 is no nicer inside. cars like this dont get sold cause the leathers ultra-soft. they get sold cause they rip your face off.

@Shahzain Gaya - man if you knew anything about cars its that the 350Z and GTR are apples and oranges. might i add that the 350Z is not better then this car in any way.. 4 seats larger trunk, more power, AWD, and four wheel steering, twice the price. Twice the car.. a true SUPER-CAR..
the 350z is sports car, enough said.

Come on, the R-34 Skyline was some kind of tradition and was really good but cars get even more modern so what you say against the new one is absolutely wrong. The 2009 GT-R is a great car with a perfect look and will do such a good job as the old one. So stop these prejudices, just because the R-34 ruled the world and focus on the new one. Nissan did a great job.

What happened to the skylines looks my god! Like the 2002 model looked pretty good, as did the 199x models, but these new Skylines look like absolute shit! I hate that kind of look.. Now the older skylines, those things were pretty sweet, and actually looked decent! This car is pretty good performance wise it seems but it doesn't look all that amazing. Looks like just another newer model car really.

exterior/interior needs a facelift...I expect more from a 70k car. If I just want muscle I can do lots with a stock Mustang with an additional 40K for power upgrades.
