Your website is your second home

Your website is your second home
Thought I would do a short rant (haven't done so in a while) about how attached webmasters (me, and probably you) become with their websites. We spend time with our website just like in our homes. We take care of it, need to clean it or otherwise it will start to fall apart. If it is a particularly nice website (home) we will be eager to show it to our friends. If it is something we are not proud of, we'd try to hide it from everyone.

Better handling of 404 pages using Google

Seldom it happens that you get few incoming links typed wrong, or you delete/move some of your posts. The result will be a 404 page not found error page displayed to your visitors coming for the old link. Luckily WordPress has a custom page for handling 404 errors, in the form of 404.php template in your theme. However the default page in many themes leaves much to be desired.

Cool update to Insights plugin: Book search

Cool update to Insights plugin: Book search
Insights is one of my favorite plugins and I just updated it with a cool new feature, Google Book search! If you do not know already, Google scanned and OCR'd millions of books and they are now available online at http://books.google.com. I've added a plugin module that will allow you to quickly search through this online treasure. This is how new module looks in action. You type in the search phrase, and select Books.
