Firefox 3 add-ons

Fun with firefox

With the recent release of Firefox 3, we got a new and improved browser of choice.

The main reason I have been using Firefox for years now is expandability achieved with the Firefox Add-ons.

There are a couple of add-ons that I can not imagine browsing without. They also help me do my job (WordPress and SEO) in a much efficient way.

  1. Firebug - this is most obvious reason I am using Firefox. It allows me complete control over site's CSS, HTML and JavaScript. Two additional Firebug plugins I use are YSlow (for measuring site performance) and Rainbow for Firebug (JavaScript code highlighting)
  2. SearchStatus - Allows easy access to valuable site information like Google Page Rank and Alexa Rank
  3. Foxmarks - Service that allows Bookmark synchronization. Meaning where ever I go, I can have my firefox bookmarks with me. I still prefer doing it this way and not using social bookmarking, it;s just too slow to use.
  4. Google Global - Allows me to search Google as if I were in different countries.
  5. Google Notebook - Taking notes and excerpts while browsing. Writing ideas.
  6. IE Tab - allows me to take a quick look of the site in Internet Explorer.
  7. Screen grab! - Saves a web page or a portion of it as an image.
  8. Weave - This is a Mozilla service that should replace Foxmarks as a synchronizer of choice. It can save bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies and filled form data - practically everything you might need.
  9. SEO for Firefox - gets SEO related information for sites (like nofollow tags and search result links).

PicLens is an amazing add-on but unfortunately it does not help me finish my job quicker.
