I installed the latest SEO Smart Links on the latest WP. I have a post title called "Someone's Pendant". The apostrophe gets converted by WP to a high ansi character: ’
When I type "Someone's Pendant" in a post, it doesn't link to the post. I'm 100% sure the reason is the quotation, because deleting it both from the post title and the second post's text fixes the problem.
I know WP has a text filter where they convert all quotations into special characters; maybe you can do your filtering and replacing of text with links before that?
