Hey, I installed the plugin smart youtube and I followed the instructions, but nothing shows up in the blog post, even if the plugin is configured to allow videos.
I just copy/pasted the link, changed http to httpv, and nothing shows up. WordPress didn't make this into a link.
e.g. I have this in my post:
Any ideas? I tried w/ Chrome, Firefox, and IE, and no dice.
Well, that's the thing. I copy pasted exactly what I had in my wordpress "edit post" box, yet it works here and not on my blog.
Could it be my plugin settings?
"Display videos in post" is checked. "Display videos in comments" is unchecked. "Video template" is empty. "Video width and height" is @ default or 425x344 "Video width and height in high quality mode" is @ default or 0x0 "Do not include related videos" is selected. "Show border" is unchecked. "Autoplay videos" is unchecked. "Display search box" is unchecked. "Remove Titles & Ratings" is unchecked. "Remove Annotations" is unchecked. "Enable privacy-enhanced mode [?] (videos may not work for Iphone users)" is checked. Custom code box is empty. xHTML validation is disabled RSS feed options are disabled.
Am I missing something here?
Could it possibly be my wordpress theme? I'm using thesis 1.8.
I have exactly the same problem as Hash on WP 3.0.1. The link is being removed from the post, but it is not replaced with a youtube clip. I followed the instructions closely, and tried with an blank wordpress set-up.
Having the same problems. Have read the directions and have everything setup the way it should be and when I put in a video link with any of the examples in the directions, nothing at all shows up within the post with anything to do with the youtube video at all, nothing.
Is this plugin compatible with WP 3.0.1?
I really like this plugin and the idea of having it display videos as described would be awesome, if it only would actually work.
Thanks for your hard work on this and I hope we can get this working as soon as possible.
I'm having the exact same problem. Weirdly, the plugin works fine on one site but — with the same WP (newest) version, the same theme and exact same settings and code — it isn't working on the other one. Both sites are on the same server.
The usual code is there (httpv://….) but on one site, nothing appears there in the post, not even the code line.
I've cleared my cache several times.
I tried changing themes, several times: Twenty Ten, Cutline, Fresh Editorial, Monochrome, and Mimbo, each in their latest versions. No luck.
I checked my plugins. Both sites have the same plugins with the same versions and settings. (I tried deactivating several, just in case something was going on there. It didn't help.)
I deactivated Smart Youtube and tried a different YouTube plugin, and then deleted the new one and tried Smart Youtube again. No luck.
I deleted Smart Youtube and reinstalled. That didn't help, either. I even tried going back to the previous version (3.7.1) and that didn't resolve the problem. I upgraded to 3.8.1 and still no improvements.
It does embed the new i-frame option, if I set that in Smart Youtube and add the appropriate code in my post. However, I'm not happy with what YouTube wants to include, so I went back to my previous settings in Smart Youtube — the ones that work fine elsewhere — and I'm back to square one.
No video. This makes no sense to me, but it's going on, and I'm relieved to see that others are running into the same baffling problem.
After my previous post, I started searching for other good YouTube plugins.
If this is helpful: WP YouTube Lyte (free plugin available at WordPress.org) works fine. I didn't even have to change any code in my posts; all the httpv://… URLs work fine.
I was doing a test of code because sometimes works for my Smart youtube not work at all, the test 6 work with the video and in a very good way, better than smart youtube, I tested and I discovered that the video resize to the correct layout of my actual theme so that is good!

Thanks for the tip Fiona. The plugin you mentioned works great and as it and this one should. Plus it's a very simple setup and your off. Not a bloated plugin.
Sorry Vladimir, but there is something wrong with your plugin and it just doesn't work as it should. I will be using the plugin as Fiona suggested until this plugin works as I like the way you have more options than the other one…
Vladimir is not compatible with wordpress 3.0.1 I put inactive all the plugins and still work the test6 in all the themes that I test, and the autosize is a very good feature

For the last few days, I used the youtube embed code to post videos. I went back to the plugin today on the exact same website, and I got it working.
The "Video Template" option is empty by default, but the label above it says "Default is just {video}". This made me assume that an empty textbox would translate to {video}, but I don't think it does. For this reason, I added {video} to the box, and now it's working fine. I feel dumb for not thinking of that before.

Most common mistake is people creating a link when they just should paste the video URL and add 'v' to http
Other than that there are no known problems with any theme.
