I hope this clears things up (Vlad always checks these posts and will correct me if I'm wrong!).
The following is from wiki … "The .PSD (Photoshop Document) format stores an image with support for most imaging options available in Photoshop. These include layers with masks, color spaces, ICC profiles, transparency, text, alpha channels and spot colors, Clipping paths, and duotone settings. This is in contrast to many other file formats (e.g. .EPS or .GIF) that restrict content to provide streamlined, predictable functionality."
"Photoshop's popularity means that the .PSD format is widely used, and it is supported to some extent by most competing software."
To make it simple. Open it up in your favourite grapic/photo editing program (you are using a program, not an image viewer are you?), play with all the colours, header and footer sizes and various other effects. Then you need to merge the layers (I always have to on Paint Shop Pro) and make seperate images of the following (use the originals as a guidance to the best size).
bg
bg-footer
bg-portrait0 (then add your other photos and save them as well, I use 10)
RSS
search
date
You can save the above as gif or jpg but make sure you tell the style sheet the change and for the pictures change jpg to gif in the header.php
Then upload into the 'A Grace' image folder(overwriting the others). Then change all your other colours in the style sheet.
If you have made the 'bg' longer than the original then other settings in the css must be changed as well to line up the text.
Brian, I know that you wrote your post quite a while back, but THANK YOU so much! I came into the forum because I was frustrated with trying to change the colors and your explanation really helped. It took me a while to get stuff lined up until I discovered snap-to guides. After that, changing the colors was easy. Thanks again.

Is the .psd (trying to change color) just a large background image?

Ok, Joe? Or was a simple yes or no sufficient?
Take care

I'm new to this and I don't have photoshop, what else could I use to change colours?
Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,
As I mentioned, any graphics program will do for your colour changes.
Even the very simple 'paint' program that comes with windows.
