When I go to choose a static page in word press, there is no home page to choose from and yet on the amazing grace theme there is a home page. I have resorted to creating another page that is static and it shows up as the home page as well, so I have two of the same pages. What am I missing?
Hi, You have to actually create a page first, the when you go to click on your home page being static you select from a drop down list which page you want people to land on.
However, the page you just created also appears again on the page menu bar at the top, so you have to add an 'exclude= ' into the header to remove it. Hope that isn't too technical for you.
It's not perfect. There is an empty list item left. IE doesn't show anything, but Firefox and Chrome add a little space and you can detect it in these browsers if you hover the mouse over the space where the empty list item (menu item) would have been located. It's good enough for me though!

Try leaving the title off the page you have selected to be the home page.
It will then only be available from the home tab.
Cheers,
