I will not download and use your plugin!

I get these kind of comments over and over again.

I will not download and use your plugin if you don't "(do as I say)"

or

It is a great plugin but unfortunately I will have to uninstall it unless you "(add some blackmail quotes)"

It's kind of funny situation so that inspired me to do this image :)

On a more serious note, I found this great article called "Hey WordPress, Stop Treating Commercial Plugin Developers Like Second Class Citizens" which reflects another problem on a different front. Not so cool to be a plugin developer nowadays.

But how will you ever survive without free downloaders?

The longer I'm in business, the less I like giving freebies to leads that aren't vetted in some way or another. If I make it to easy to get a free thing, I get nothing but grief. But I f I make them work for it, they are much more likely to apply, ask thoughtful questions, and help me improve it.

I had to leave a comment on this post as this really angered me. Vladimir's plugins are made with "real business concerns" in mind. Creating these kind of plugins is not just another business where you need to please clients. I don't think so anyway.

You download the plugin - you do it for you - you get awfully good rankings, you make money. Be grateful.

    LOL! That's great.

Really, where do these people get off threatening the developer of a free plugin? People like that remind me of the spoiled little kids.

I could care less if they use my plugin or not. I usually tell them, "Go build your own plugin and see if you can do a better job. I don't want you using my plugin anyways."

I finally figured out how to go about no-indexing issue on your SEO Super Comments plugin, Vladimir - love it!

People these days expect more and more for free, don't they? That's because they've never created a product in their lifetime...

Oops... I am sorry that my comment in this post disturbed you that you had to remove it. It was just a tease. For the record, I do use your plugins.

Oh My! Blame it on the Google Chrome cache! :)
It showed the comment when posted (it wasn't in moderation, I have previously commented on this blog). But then when I loaded the page later, it did not appear. So came my silly assumption. But after I posted my second comment, the previous showed up. Sorry!

This phenomenon happens to all businesses. Some clients are just hard to please. Others know what they want and won’t settle for anything less. The answer is really just to move on and concentrate on serving those that are happy with your services ;-)
