Jonathan Zittrain and Jeffrey Sachs
Usually I am very involved in my current projects, work or hobby related and I don't even have a TV home so I am kind of cut from the rest of the world. This lasts until I finish a major project and that just happened yesterday. As a relief buffer, I proceed then to sweep through the internet in search for interesting things that I missed and scoop that knowledge. That is how I found about these two eloquent gentleman, otherwise completely unrelated but sharing visions that I think need to be heard.
It does sadden me the fact that the youtube videos of these two gentleman have been watched couple of thousands of times together, while the video of cat flushing the toilet couple of millions but that puts more in perspective the problems that are talking about.
If you have two hours of your time and just like me enjoy sitting back in a comfy chair and watching this kind of stuff you will certainly enjoy it.
Just a little introduction, Jonathan Zittrain wrote a book called "The Future of Internet (and how to stop it)" about the problems Internet is facing today - which coincidentally I mentioned in few of the articles on this blog as well. Jonathan appears to be one of the most intelligent guys I heard in the recent times I am looking forward to his future work. His book is btw. freely downloadable as a pdf form his site.
Jeffrey Sachs is an economics guru and a world's leading expert on extreme poverty. He gave the following speech at Google Authors series and it really emphasizes problems and offers solutions to the current global issues. You may remember him as the guy in the Angelina Jollie's documentary diary about Africa, aired on MTV.
