Passed the pilot tests!

209296304 9f1bd11402 m Passed the pilot tests!Today is a very happy occasion indeed, I passed written examination tests for my glider pilot license.

There were two hundred questions in ten different areas and I had 98.5% total with only three wrong answers. It was fun - and everything related to flying is when you are prepared.

To become a pilot I need to know a lot of different and interesting things like:

  • Fact that the suction below a cumulonimbus (the big stormy cloud) can be up to 40 m/s (it means it could propel you upwards 2.4 km in a minute!)
  • How to spell YU DCM (that's our towing plane marks) using communication terms - Yankee, Uniform, Delta, Charlie, Mike
  • G force of 5.3 is accomplished in a tight turn at 79 degrees angle

On Saturday I have a second part of the test - the practical examination in the air.
