Rankpay.com offers a unique off-site SEO service. You pay only for what they manage to rank you for.
It works quite simple - you enter a site and add few keywords. and based on their algorithm they calculate how hard is it to rank your site for these keywords.
You enter your credit card number and do not pay anything immediately. Only after certain rankings are achieved you start paying monthly sum according to the plan you were presented at the beginning.
No rankings - no payment.
I am quite a bit a fan of a concept like that when it comes to off-site SEO.

I'm afraid I don't really share your enthusiasm. The problem with this, and basically with any service related to "pay to get highly listed" is that people with more money can buy themselves up to the ranking. This feels a lot like Google's service where they have "sponsored links", with the difference, that sponsored links are more or less recognizable.
The better side is the "don't pay if you don't get listed", which feels like 50-50: they will do their best to list you (one 50), but unless you have good content (other 50), the page ranking algorithms will kick you out in a while. To really make revenue, this company should have a secret deal with Google of some sort. As a consumer, already faced with less diversity since Google came about, services like these will decrease the diversity even more and allow big-bucks to "rule" once more.
No, I'm not a pessimist and only time will tell how good or bad this will turn out to be :)
This is still better then paying for an SEO campaign without any guarantee for results right?
Isn't SEO something that's more an active sport then it is something you should ask another company to do? I've done quite some smaller and larger web projects and SEO is not always part of the (paid) plan, until they find they are nr 231 on the rankings. Active promotion is much more "participating" then it is to have banners, autogenerate keywords etc. If people write about you, that's the best SEO you can get. Getting people to write about you means you should write about them.
Ok, that's all too simplistic. But surely no SEO company is going to spend loads of man-hours to write human-created posts on other sites. So: yes, it is probably better, and no, I think paying for SEO is a waste of money anyway, even when promises are included.
The worst that can happen is that they manage to high-rank you, and you pay them. Then you fall back because of the ever-changing algorithm, or worse: Google stops ranking you because "violation" of ranking rules. Happened to me once and it takes a long time to crawl back. That's very costly.
If you fall in rankings you also stop paying.
The company does not write content for you, they do only off-site SEO. There is big difference in skillset for on-site and off-site SEO. For example I am specialized in on-site SEO but I'd rather outsource off-site SEO.
Yeah, its a good concept but one thing always makes me wild. Suppose the rankings are reached, and the clients refuses to pay. What will the company do then?
That's why yo give credit cards details upfront, and they are left open until the payment is due.
