After eight months of development, I am very happy to announce the release of next generation of SEO Smart Links plugin - SEO Smart Links Premium.
What is new?
SEO Smart Links Premium plugin comes loaded with new features.
- Enhanced content parsing algorithm -- The content parsing algorithm is perfected, the plugin will rarely make mistakes anymore. The keywords and link recognition has been improved, as well as behavior in tricky HTML code. Also all reported bugs from the free version have been fixed.
- Improved performance -- The new parsing algorithm is not only more versatile, it is also about 3 times faster then the one in free edition, making the plugin now much more suited for bigger sites.
- Advanced automatic interlinking options -- SEO Smart Links is more powerful with new features like:
- Option to prevent cross-category linking (autolink to articles within the same category only)
- Option to parse only posts older than given number of days
- Post slug keywords can be matched now
- WordPress 3.0 custom taxonomies support
- Option to specify the minimum length in characters for keyword to be considered
- Disable WordPress texturization filter option
- Advanced custom keywords options -- Perhaps biggest improvement has been made for custom keywords with new features like:
- Visual interface for custom keywords
- Option to enable automatic checking of plural form of the keyword (works for english only)
- Full support for redirection with affiliate link cloaking
- Keywords, URLs and optional redirection are now separated with ‘|’ allowing easy managing and import to Excel for example
- You can now specify multiple URLs per keyword(s) and the plugin will pick one at random
- Option to specify your own separator for custom keywords
- Advanced control over number of created links -- The premium plugin has options for better control over the number of created links. You can now specify maximum number of links on page (original links + SEO Smart Links created) and the plugin will never exceed this limit.
- Support for link redirection/link cloaking -- SEO Smart Links now lets you setup easy redirections or cloak your affiliate links. You can specify a base permalink for redirection (default /go/) and define the rest of the link for every keyword.
- UTF-8 support for sites in foreign languages -- SEO Smart Links is now UTF8 aware and will work with blogs in foreign language.
- Override settings at post level -- With this new feature, you can optionally override global rules at post level.. You can disable processing of this post completely or forbid automatic links to it, you can override or add custom keywords for that post, and you can also specify additional keywords you want this post to be recognized for in automatic linking.
- Link template customization -- Allows you to specify your own HTML/CSS code for all links made by SEO Smart Links so you can easily add description or layout, color, font-size, alignment, add tags…
- Nofollow whitelist -- Allows you to specify a whitelist of domains that you do not want to add ‘nofollow’ attribute to (for example for your own sites).
- Import/Export configuration and custom keywords -- Allows you to easily export your custom keyword configuration and import it on another blog. Also you can export the full configuration (including all options) and save it as a backup or use it on another blog.
- Caching -- Feature of the Business version, and especially useful for larger sites, caching dramatically improves the performance of the website. The built-in caching module is smart and works well with popular WordPress caches like WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache. more info
- Statistics -- Also a feature of the Business version, this new screen gives you the full insight of the plugin activity. You can see how are your posts interlinked and how are your custom keywords used throughout the site. You will be able to see how many links use which keywords and leading to which URLs are generated; or in which posts is a specific keyword used; or what articles link to the certain destination. Hi Vlad,
I have a question regarding multiple URLs with a keyword.
I'm finding that for a keyword only the last URL in the series is used.
So for example:
dog food, http://dogfood.com, http://petfood.com, http://animalfood.com
Doing this will only produce "dog food" to link to http://animalfood.com every time. None of the other URLs get linked to.
I am using the Free version, but I thought i read somewhere that this was possible.
Is this only possible with the premium version? I need to have a bunch of URLs chosen at random for my keywords.

can I use the personal version for a domain and subdomain of that same domain?
Subdomain is considered a different domain. Basically personal license allows you to use it on one site.
Yep, the new version plugin would be awesome, the website http://bangkokcurtains.wordpress.com/ would definitely need this, I will consider SEO Smart definitely :) especially with the discount coupon.

Hi Vladimir. Great work and congrats on the new launch. Is there a way to have interlinking of keywords between posts occur without having to always define a target URL? I know that in the free version, after adding a list of Custom Keywords, you have define a target URL for each, is there not a way for your system to just auto generate post interlinks based on keyword density or similarity?
Yes even in the free version you can set automatic linking based on post title. In the premium version this is taken one step further so it also matches post slug keywords and for every post while writing it you can specify interesting keywords that you want to be associated with this post for automatic linking (sort of post tags)

Question about blocking cross category linking:
If I set it to block cross category linking, will my posts still link to ALL other posts in a given category (including parent category and other child categories), or will they only link to posts in the exact child category?
I would want it so that I am only interlinking at the child category level.

Link only to same category option will link two posts if they have same categories selected, and won't work for a post which is a child of a mutual category. Hope that makes sense.
Ok I just want to be sure I am getting this right - so let's say I have a parent category called Dogs with a child category called Dog Collars. I have several posts that are ONLY assigned to the Dog Collars category.
In this case, the posts assigned ONLY to the Dog Collars category will ONLY link to other posts in the Dog Collars category and not any other posts assigned to the parent Dogs category or any other child categories... is that right?

Do you know that I have made the SEO smart link work on a 10,000 visitors per day / 3500 pages website last week, and I suddenly lost 2000 visitors per day on a 4 days test? due to the excessive database performance. I took it out as it drastically slows my website. any thoughts about this Vladimir? I mean, could it be any type of incompatibility with my database / theme version / plugins? thank you
Free version is not very well suited for running big sites and it does not have to do anything with your configuration. I wrote it for casual bloggers and small sites. Premium version is faster 3-4 times out of the box, and with caching feature there is virtually no strain on the server resources any more so it is much more suited for big sites (its currently running on 20,000+ post, 50,000 visitors/day site)
Many of our clients don't typically understand the basic benefit of properly interlinking their content. We try to educate them but there is always room for improvement...it seems. This appears to be a great option to help them "automatically" (with some tuning).
How important would you say this SEO strategy is (scale of 1-10, 1 being very important)? Example: Page Title in our opinion would be rated a 1, very important.
What type of performance impact will this plugin have on load time (best guess, such as very minimal or slightly noticeable, etc.)?

Interlinking is very import for several reasons, as it helps keep page rank on your site and helps page rank flow and search engine indexation rate. All links created in this way will be with a keyword rich anchor text so you have this benefit as well. It is hard to quantify I would say between 7 and 9.
Performance impact depends on the size of the blog and options used. Business version comes with caching which tremendously improves the performance for larger sites (for example we have it running on a 20,000+ post, 50,000 unique visitors/day site).
If you use only custom keywords the situation is even better as this is least resource intensive.

Compatible with Multisite? Able to activate on individual sites? Also, and maybe a major feature request here, but how about the ability to interlink between selected sites on a Multisite setup?
My use case is a company site that uses a total of 10 sites for various aspects of the business. 6 of these sites are for products (3 in English and 3 in another language), it would be ideal to utilize Smart Links for interlinking keywords between these 6 sites.

It is compatible with multi-site however, automatic cross site linking is not supported for performance reasons. You can still interlink the sites with custom keywords though.

Thank God for the 79 version, 300 was a bit much for me.
I tried to have something for everyone. The plugin is used by big blogs and agencies too so that's why a business version suitable for these users exists.
