Smart Youtube plugin released

Vladimir on December 13th, 2007

I have released a new wordpress youtube plugin plugin called Smart Youtube. It was created out of the need for a small, fast and all-round useful Youtube video plugin. The ones I tried were either large and added javascript code to your page, complicated to use or the links you posted did not appear in your RSS feed.

I fixed all that, and on top of all added the option to display Youtube video image preview in your RSS feed as well. If you are reading my RSS feed you are seeing the following video as a preview…

…while visitors on site see it nicely embedded in blog.

I even hear my self thinking now, how cool is that? :)

  1. This plugin is only working with YouTube videos, other videos (from different sites just like YouTube) will not work?

  2. At the moment only Youtube is supported. What else would like to use?

  3. Hmmm… I don’t know even… Of course, YouTube is most used. Sometimes I also use DailyMotion, Revver, LiveVideo… but only sometimes ;)

  4. Ok.. you helped with the answer there :)

Thing is that every single site has to be custom coded and it’s the same amount of work as for Youtube. But as Youtube is used 99% of time I decided to support it first. If there is more interest for others, I’ll add them as the plugin is expandable.

  5. I have wanted something like this forever! NICE!

  6. Thanks Jules, I am glad you find it useful.

  7. THis plugin somehow will work on my new blog design. I finding a space to post video on my coming new redesign blog

  8. Woohoo! Thanks for keeping it SIMPLE, Vladimir.
