Don't rely on medicine! I never ever heard a 100 yrs old claiming they did it because of medicine or drugs. Always without exception it will be something related to their lifestyle or food.  And it took some time until that fact crystallized. Today we are often convinced that no matter what kind of (unhealthy) lifestyle we live, there will be always some kind of miracle medicine to take care of no matter how badly messed up we are.
