Google keyword tool is a fantastic tool for market research. If you type a keyword you will get an estimated monthly number of searches on Google for the target keyword. Which means it can be used as very effective brand awareness research tool. If I want to find out how many people search for my full name, I would simply type it in and select "phrase" match.
