For a long time all website optimization gurus used YSlow, a tool developed by Yahoo, for purpose of real time performance analysis of websites. And while YSlow is an excellent tool, another contender decided to enter the game -  Page Speed.What I immediately liked about it is the speed and the wealth of information it was giving. There is also a Page Speed Activity panel, very similar to Firebug's NET giving even more valuable info.
