Top 6 reasons you should start playing the guitar

As a teenager, I never had a chance to play a musical instrument or have my own band. I was either interested in other things (computers) and my musical anti-talent was very hard to overcome. But after I passed 30 years last year, I decided to treat my self with a nothing less then an electric guitar. I had no clue what to do with it, how will I find time to play it or how hard can it be to learn it. All I knew was that I needed it.

Here are my six reasons I bought the guitar for.

6. All along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix

What can I say about this song other then - just phenomenal. Listen to the guitar God.

5. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits

Mark Knopfler and his cheerful gang. This is one of my favorite songs and an exceptional guitar piece. Video from '84 Live Aid.

4. Always with me, Always with you - Joe Satriani

This maybe one of the hardest tunes to master of all here, but the sheer acoustic beauty of it is unmeasurable. Way to go Joe, you are a genius.

3. Sweet Child of Mine - Guns'n'Roses

Everyone's favorite, yes it's mine too. I would say one of the best guitar intro solos of all time.

2. Canon Rock - JerryC

Pachelbel's Canon is my favorite piece of classical music. Want to hear it on electrical guitar? Embrace yourself for a truly amazing experience.

1. Coming Back to Life - Pink Floyd

To me, Pink Floyd was in music of 20th century what Mozart was in 18th. Out of too many great songs to count, I picked up this one as my favorite. Thank you David Gilmour for bringing this to my life.

I bought my guitar and an amplifier for less then $200. Starting guitar lessons cost about the same. After that it's only you, persistence and will to learn. One day you could be playing this. Now, how cool is that?

I see we share the same passion for Joe Satriani and Pink Floyd :) If you'd like we could meet up for a jam session somewhere in Belgrade.

    Vladimir,

Your site is just fantastic. I have been reading practically every post since I discovered it recently.

Check out this version of Sultans with Mark And Clapton in 2006. Smoking great still. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ-JyAGUsys
