WordPress Ping List

This is a recommended ping list for a WordPress blog. The information is gathered from personal experience and various sources on the web.

Every time you post these services will be notified of your blog post increasing your online exposure.

To use this list, copy and paste this list to your Settings->Writing tab in the admin panel.

I also recommend using Smart Update Pinger plugin which will ping these services only when you post the article not when you edit it. It also has one cool feature - you can check smart-update-pinger.log file found in your wp-content folder of WordPress installation and see if any services refuse ping request for your site. In that case you can simply remove them from the list not to waste time pinging them.

Good day! While this information may be a little dated, I've found that Smart Update Pinger is no longer updated for use with wordpress 2.1 and above.

You might want to check out maxblogpress ping optimiser plugin. It'll make sure you only send out pings when you add new posts & not everytime you make a minor change (can lead to a ping ban)

You said that you recommend using "Smart Update Pinger plugin" which will ping these services only when you post the article not when you edit it - I am just curious if it's bad to have the current system ping when I make edits? - Is it going to get me banned from the ping sites or something if it keeps pinning the same post? Fantastic list, but, as Rio pointed out, pingomatic already does the job of all these adresses, and it may lead to penalties if one submits too many times to the same server

This is a great list but my posting become slower. That because wordpress system send ping to all of that ping service. Personally, i onle using pingomatic. It complete enough for me.

That's the problem if you don't remove pingomatic from WP default ping. Some ping service will receive 2 ping. And as my experience, your IP address will be blacklist from that ping service.

My advice is, Before you paste this list to your blog, First, remove pingomatic from your wordpress default ping or just use pingomatic and do not use the other ping service.

Duncan go to Settings > Writing, then on the bottom you'll find "Update services", insert the list and that's it. But I think it's better to use plugins: "Smart Update Pinger" or "Ping Optimizer".

Found your site on google when i search about "List of Ping Service" This is Great. But i think if we use this list to our WP blog. We will get a problem. Will be better if you remove pingomatic ping service before you use this list. Why...??? Because There is a same ping list in this list with the Automatic pingomatic list. It mean one ping service will get 2 notified from our blog. If we always do this, Our Blog URL will be black list by that ping list. I have prove it. So from now, i always remove pingomatic from my WP panel then copy-paste the other ping service url before I make a post to my blog. hope that you understand what i mean because i only can speak english a little.

@Padro & all: does WP really ping all the configured services every each time a post is edited? This somehow doesn't make any sense for me, is this one more way to spam ANY services there are just to gather SOME rankings? Can anyone approve this?

I kind of have a lot of drafts saved and working on them continously, so I've saved many of them many times meanwhile, so I must have been actually banned already, right? I have no notice of beeing banned though...
