The extend page for plugins on WordPress.org features the most popular, highly rated, recently updated and new plugins.
But one thing missing is rising stars - plugins that are not yet quite so popular but are rapidly becoming so based on current downloads and ratings. These plugins would normally get no exposure and I decided to change that.
I will update the list every week on Monday so make sure you check come back for changes and newcomers. Interested in themes? Check Best new WordPress themes list, also updates every Monday.
The list is available in form of a WordPress plugin WP Quick Deploy, which also allows you to install any plugin from the list with just one click.

How is popularity determined?
If it is determined by the number of downloads in the previous week, then I would like to point out a flaw in the calculation. If not, can you please explain which metrics are used?

Ok, I really wish I had known this page existed. This is a fantastic idea and honestly I'm pretty surprised that WordPress doesn't have it's own version of Rising Stars.
You would think this would be something at the top of the list to give their users some idea as to what is happening in the plugin downloads section. As it is, you can check "what's new" and whatever but otherwise you're left to your own devices to figure out which plugins are worth looking into and which ones are pure junk.
Really appreciate you setting this up and I not only made a like on Facebook but I'm bookmarking this page.
