SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress optimization plugin which automatically updates all images with proper ALT and TITLE attributes. If your images do not have ALT and TITLE already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them according the options you set. Additionally this makes the post W3C/xHTML valid as well.
ALT attribute is important part of search engine optimization. It describes your image to search engine and when a user searches for a certain image this is a key determining factor for a match.
TITLE attribute play lesser role but is important for visitors as this text will automatically appear in the tooltip when mouse is over the image.

Installation & Usage
- Upload the whole plugin folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
- Go to the Plugins page and activate the plugin.
- Use the Options page to modify ALT and TITLE options.
- You are done, SEO Image does everything else
SEO Friendly Images options recognize two tags %title (post title) and %name (filename of the picture). By combining these two tags and additional words (photo, picture etc..) you can create relevant alt and title tags automatically for all images.
Here is a live example of the plugin (active on my blog). The image that has title and alt replaced with "%title" and "%name %title" respectively resulting in "SEO Friendly Image" for title and "example SEO Friendly Images" for alt.

There is one additional option called 'Override default WordPress alt'. If you uploaded pictures to your blog posts already and haven't specified a description WordPress would automatically add a default alt tag in form of image.jpg. Since SEO Friendly Images replaces only empty or non-existing alt tags, this would be left intact unless this option is turned on.

@Dave: You're in the same boat. I've tried this plugin on WP 2.7 and it's not working for me either.
@ onelargeprawn... no, that's not it. I saved the default settings then updated them to no effect... clearly I'm doing something wrong but it simply is not accepting the default or revised settings.
@Dave: If you go to your blog, and access the properties of an image, the alternative text of the image should be set to whatever you have configured the plugin to output for alternative text.
Silly question... but how will I know when this tool is working? I loaded it but have not noticed any changes.
I will try to install it and hope there will be an effect.
Hey, thanks for the info. Just a question, though, how does this mod apply alternate and titles to images if they are missing? Does it generate random strings?
I'm thinking about trying this mod but I don't know if it's compatible with WordPress 2.7 ...
installed it on several blogs - it worked fine
wp 2.7, english
now it's not working... don't understand anything...
Thanks for plugin. Download now and try it.
Will it work with cyrillic websites too?
Thanks for the award, it a nice company to be in.

Hi,
Thanks for the plugin.
Some really nice optimizing help for newbies like us.
Great post, thanks!
I have the same problem as onelargeprawn - doesn't seem to do anything for WP 2.7.
Does this on WordPress 2.7? I've installed this plugin on my local computer to test it, and it doesn't seem to work for me. It doesn't replace the ALT or TITLE attributes even though the "Override default WordPress alt (recommended)" option is selected.
Can anyone comment further on this?
Awesome plugin for my clients who are inexperienced with wordpress and don't understand the value of have well tagged images. thank-you!
thanks for your post
i' just used it for my site :)
good jobs
great plugin! I like it.
Yes it is working bro
Hi!
Is this plugin working on wordpress 2,7 ?
Hi Vladimir
thanks for such a usefull plugin!
I've got one problem though:
been using SEO Friendly images for my WP2.5.1 blog
the plugin works perfectly when images are added as URL ("add image" icon). both image' title and alt are replaced with those I've set.
the plugin doesn't insert title="" when images are loaded using WP media library tool. ALTs are working fine, though it is not replaced with my custom alt if the image has the alt set upon upload.
I've got "Override default WordPress alt (recommended)" checked.
Looks like I've got my WP theme setting title and alt and the plugin doesn't manage to override it.
Is there any way to fix this?
Fantastic Plug-in, thank you. I have installed on my blog and love it. Been looking for something like this for a while now. Love it
having a little problem/question with your plugin and attachments displayed as a gallery.
- wp 2.7 rc1 10119
- your plugin is correctly configured
- using image.php inside my theme to display the attachment
- calling the attachement like this:
<a class="shutter" title="" href="ID); ?>">ID, 'large' ); ?>a sample output can be seen here: http://pacura.ru/pictures/westcoast-weekend/attachment/02_p1010530/ and the alt tag is empty. any ideas?
Very important plugin. Thanks.
