WP Digg This

WP Digg This is a plugin that adds a Digg button, but with a twist. Instead of adding a Digg button to all your posts, WP Digg This plugin selectively adds the button only to posts you want.

To add a digg button just add a 'digg' custom field with value '1'.

WP Digg This can display digg button on your single pages but there is an option to show them on home and archive pages as well.

Installation

1. Upload the whole plugin folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
2. Go to the Plugins page and activate the plugin.
3. If you want to show the Digg button, add a custom field with the key 'digg' and value '1' (see the screenshot).
4. If you want to remove the button simple delete the custom field.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

WP Digg This uses Digg API to show the Digg button with the number of Diggs. It shows the button only on selected posts and this is what differs it from other similar plugins.

    I am trying to get this to show up on the right side of the posts.

    I have edited the plugin per instructions on the WP plugin site through the editor and it does not change anything.

    Do I need to make the change on my computer and ftp it back up?

    Thanks,

    Jim

      You would probably just have to add float:right; to template CSS.

    Hi, great plugin. But I have a problem, i can't find how to change @tweetmeme with my twitter username when i add twitter as custom field.

      Solved the problem :)
      I just add this code (tweetmeme_source = "yourtwitterusername";) to solve the problem by specifying the ‘tweetmeme_source’ parameter in the JavaScript.

        So what does the code look like when you insert it for those of us that can semi-manipulate code but don't understand what we are doing? Like do you just add the (tweetmeme_source = "yourtwitterusername";) just anywhere? or is there something before and after it like a (tweetmeme_source = "yourtwitterusername";) or something? Please help as I am trying to get this thing working promoting @FloridaHomesMag instead of @Tweetmeme, and do you place the javascript right by the other javascript??

        • Sep 28th, 2009

          Normal usage is twitter=1

            dont you have to edit the plugin files in order for when someone RT's your post for it to say @yourusername instead of @tweetmeme ??? I need to figure out what code I need to add for that.

          go to wp-digg-this.php and look for the twitter function:

          function WPDiggThis_Twitter($url)

          the script part should look like this:

          tweetmeme_url = \''.js_escape($url).'\';
          tweetmeme_source = "yourtwittername";

          replace yourtwittername with your twitter name

    How can I place the bottom at the bottom of my posts.
    How can I make the white background that surrounds the button transparent so it looks good on my dark background?

    Great plugin but;
    Again when I add it it seems to break my page content as it always wants to go top left where most posts have a picture? Is there a way I can enter the code into the template so i can control it's position?

    Thanks

  15. Feb 13th, 2009

    Yep, easily, by modifying plugin code

    I installed the plugin in BlueGrace running wordpress2.6.3 and activated it. Now I can't find it anywhere in the blog except listed as an activated plugin. Probably something I did wrong. :)

    Seems to work normally on three sites I tested it with. Maybe a plugin conflict?

    Installed it per directions, added the custom field, and my article would no longer display the content, completely broke any article using it. Using Massive News theme with latest version of wordpress.
